Nairobi National Museums

Nairobi National Museum is located at the Museum Hill; approximately 10 minutes drive from the Nairobi city centre accessible both by public and private transport. Nairobi National Museum is one of the most preferred tourist destinations in city centre.

It is a modern centre dotted with a feeling of Kenya’s history, heritage, culture, contemporary arts and crafts, nature and now houses a world class Coffee Lounge, Gift and Book shops and the galleries set up is simply incredible. It aims to interpret Kenya's rich heritage and offers a one stop for visitors to sample the country's rich heritage both for education and leisure. Nairobi National Museum exhibits fossils excavated within Rift valleys, which is believed to be the origin of human kind.

The museum was founded in the year 1910-1911 by persons interested in nature in British Africa. The group included church missionary society.Rev.Harry Leakey and Rev.Kenneth, St.Aubyn Rogers, C.W Hobley & John Ainsworth, doctors, dentists, big game hunters and plantation owners. In 1911, Aladina visram put up the money for one story building for the library with an honorary curator. The museum is open on all 356 days throughout the year from 08:30hrs -17:30hrs
